Positive Reinforcement Training
At K9 Zen, we believe in the power of positive reinforcement training. We use only rewards-based techniques to encourage dogs to learn new behaviors and commands. We believe that training should be enjoyable for both dogs and their owners, and our methods reflect this belief.
Behavior Modification Programs
We offer behavior modification programs that are designed to help dogs overcome unwanted behaviors such as aggression, separation anxiety, and fear. We use a combination of training techniques to help dogs learn new coping mechanisms and develop positive associations.
Our Programs
One on One Private training
Each family receives a custom training plan with your personal needs in mind. We tailor your experience based on your individual needs and desired outcomes. Your focused one on one sessions will equip you and your dog with the skills for a lifetime of Zen.
Board and Train
Our Board and Train service is a 2 -3 week intensive plan that offers your family a quicker path your desired outcome. During a board and train, you will have access to a camera inside the kennel 24 hours a day. We also highly encourage a visit half way through the session.
*Included in the board and train is an initial consultation to discuss desired outcomes and expectations and a followup in-home visit to assist in the transition.
Reactivity Program
Our reactivity program is designed to help dogs struggling with leash, people and noise reactivity. Sessions start in your home and then move to the farm where we work on these triggers at a safe and comfortable distance from your dog. Contact us to learn more!

Our facility sits on 7 Acres in McHenry Illinois. The property consists of several fenced in pastures and a large boarding facility. We have plenty of green space for even the most active guests exercise needs.

Our boarding accommodations are not your average kennel and cage facility. Our guests are housed in converted horse stalls with large cots and plenty of space! You will have 24X7 access to a camera in each of our boarding rooms so you can see your pet while they are not training for piece of mind.
